Datha Wilson Whitfield is a Christian author, speaker, coach, and encourager with a heart to help women believe God for more.
Born to parents who were ministers and church planters, Datha’s childhood was filled with faith, change, and constant new beginnings. From first grade through twelfth grade, she moved seventeen times, spending much of her growing-up years as “the new girl.” That unique upbringing deeply shaped her heart and gave her a lasting desire to make others feel seen, welcomed, and loved.
At twelve years old, Datha met her future husband, Jason, at a wedding, where they walked down the aisle together as junior bridesmaid and junior groomsman — a sweet beginning to a love story God was already writing.
Datha is the founder of the Wildest Dreams Women’s Conference, an annual gathering in Hueytown, Alabama, held every year on the last Saturday in January. The conference was created to inspire women to dream with God, grow in their calling, and take courageous next steps.
Her first book, The Messy Marvelous Middle: Finding Jesus in Unexpected Places, fulfilled a childhood dream and reflects her heart for helping women see God’s faithfulness in ordinary, unexpected, and imperfect seasons. With her warm Southern storytelling, humor, and love for Scripture, Datha continues that message as she works on her second book, inviting women to find wonder in wilderness seasons.
Datha and Jason have been married for over thirty-eight years and have served in ministry at Summit Life Church for twenty-five years. They are the proud parents of three adult children, blessed with a daughter-in-love and son-in-love, and the joyful grandparents of Raylan, Layla Grace, Teddy, and Benny.
Datha is also an avid fan of road-tripping, where she often finds inspiration for many of her stories. Her favorite road trips usually lead her to one of Alabama’s beautiful beaches.
Whether she is speaking, writing, hosting women’s events, or encouraging someone over coffee, Datha’s heart remains the same: to help women dream again, believe again, and walk boldly into all God has placed before them.
For years, I’ve had the privilege of sitting across the table from women in coffee shops, conference rooms, church pews, retreat centers, and coaching sessions. No matter their age, background, or season of life, many are asking the same questions:
Is there more?
Does my story still matter?
Can God still use me?
I believe the answer is yes.
That’s the heart behind DREAM with DATHA.
I don’t believe you were created to simply survive your life. I believe you were created to dream again, live fully, and step forward with purpose, confidence, joy, and faith.
My mission is simple: to help women discover who they are, embrace the story God is writing, and courageously step into what comes next.
Whether you read one of my books, attend a conference, join a retreat, hear me speak, become part of a coaching program, or connect through one of our communities, my heart is the same.
I want to help you find clarity when you’re feeling lost.
Hope when you’re feeling discouraged.
Courage when you’re feeling afraid.
And vision when you’re struggling to see what’s possible.
My own life has taught me that the most beautiful things often grow from the messiest places. The challenges, disappointments, detours, and unexpected chapters aren’t obstacles to your purpose—they are often the very things God uses to prepare you for it.
That’s why everything I create is built around one belief:
Your story matters.
Your experiences matter.
Your dreams matter.
Your voice matters.
And it’s never too late to become the woman God created you to be.
If you’re looking for someone to simply motivate you for a moment, I’m probably not your person.
But if you’re looking for someone to walk alongside you, encourage you, challenge you, and help you uncover the purpose hidden within your story, I’d be honored to be part of your journey.
Because sometimes all it takes is one person to plant a dream.
Sometimes it takes someone to help nurture that dream.
And sometimes it takes a community to help you live it.
That’s what DREAM with DATHA is all about.
